Whenever it comes to weight loss, we all mainly focus on eating more veggies, whole grains, legumes, fruits, lean proteins, and less processed or high-in-added sugar foods. However, the experts have claimed that opting for drinks over these eating habits can be more beneficial and effective.
Gabbi Berkow, a registered dietitian, and certified personal trainer claims, “Weight loss ultimately comes down to burning more calories than you eat. So, to maximize calories from food, we want to minimize our calories from drinks.”
She further adds, “They provide calories and sugar, but no beneficial nutrients. The worry is that added sugar in drinks can cause blood sugar to rise and fall, a rollercoaster that can enhance sugar cravings.”
Notably, water is one of the best and easiest ways to lose weight. As per Berkow, “Water is imperative for losing weight. Staying hydrated is also really key for weight loss—and of course health in general. Water is needed for metabolism, circulation, energy, digestion, and every function in your body.”
She also mentions at least one must drink about eight glasses and in order to add some twist they can add some fruits too.
Green tea without any sugar offers zero calories and studies have also shown that green tea helps to increase the metabolism of the body. Expert Gabbi notes, “This is because of the caffeine content in the green tea, and also because green tea contains catechins, which are antioxidants that can support fat burning.”
Adding smoothies to the daily diet is also a very great way to enhance health and gain a perfect body structure. Thus, Gabbi mentioned, “Smoothies, when done right, are a great option for weight loss, but you have to make sure they are filling enough to be used as a meal or snack replacement. You should also remember they will not keep you as full as solid food would so be careful not to overdo fruits and sugars.”
